Our theme for this conversation: We Play in Centuries, a long-term design concept that Gail Taylor has been stewarding for the better part of a decade.

As she explains it:

Gail Taylor“About ten years ago a small group of us met to explore the future and the place it played in our work. What were we really saying when we claimed to ‘create the future by design, not default?’ What was our role in creating healthy tomorrows well beyond the short term goals of most of our clients?

For me, being a good ancestor means weighing and considering seven generations forward and seven generations back. Whew! What a task!

“I took the challenge seriously and today have a robust database that provides insights, impulses, and a resounding Yes! We can give our descendants healthy options. The tug and pull between honoring our ancestors and giving shape and guidance to a healthy future is fun and upbeat. It helps me play with possibilities, and to seek and support where I see new patterns emerging. By working the past and the future together I truly feel I have a good chance of designing for my descendants to come—by design, not default.”

Join Gail and Todd as they explore ways the combination of good ancestoring and playing in centuries can give form and fullness in helping to ensure healthy lives for generations to come.

About The Better Ancestoring Dialogue Series

This is an ongoing opportunity to deepen your awareness of and relationship with long-term thinking across multiple contexts, while offering points of connection and co-creation with others from around the world seeking to do the same.

As the name indicates, our emphasis will be on dialogue and interactivity with a mix of ritual, sharing, art, and interview.

True to the mission of our TVW Learning Community, we’ll emphasize active, relational and practical aspects of long-term thinking and ways we can facilitate good ancestoring in ourselves and others.

Gail Taylor is the founder and CEO of Tomorrow Makers, Inc., helping to create scaffolds and tools for leaping the abyss… from one paradigm to another. She was also the founder of The Learning Exchange and co-founder of MG Taylor, Inc.

Gail’s work has ranged from early childhood education to global corporations, start-up enterprises, not-for-profits, and communities.

In all circumstances, Gail recognizes the dormant creativity within the group and awakens it to move forward toward healthy goals and new ways of working together.
