A Conversation with Global Commons Alliance

Live Interview with the Global Commons Alliance Team
Friday, March 6th at 5pm CET
The Global Commons Alliance (GCA) is creating a new 21st-century platform that incorporates the environment and the economy – people and planet – to transform economic systems for the benefit of society and to sustain the natural systems of Earth. The mission of the alliance is to create a habitable planet by catalyzing the transformation of our global economic systems by 2030.

This ZOOM conversation will be with the international team of facilitators and designers at the center of the Global Commons Alliance, including Value Web Active Members: Andor Gregorics, Hilde Rydning, Mike Fleisch, Patrick Frick, Guillaume Lagane, and Randall Krantz.

The GCA team worked with the Earth Commission, WWF, The Nature Conservancy, Science-Based Targets Network, industry partners, and scientists to prototype a global framework for preserving biodiversity. This video gives some context: https://vimeo.com/pixelduststudios/review/385927081/7fa6645de7

On March 6th, our conversation will highlight the origin, timeline, process, and tools used to grow such an initiative over the last two years, such as:

  • What is the Global Commons Alliance?
  • What is the context for the creation of this new entity?
  • What knowledge, skills, and attitude does a planet-centered, multi-year, multi-stakeholder project require?
  • What structures, principles, and frameworks help to build trust and momentum?
  • How did the team balance bootstrapping, funding, and pro-bono efforts?
  • What were the challenges in building coalitions?
  • How did you coordinate conversations and decision-making between stakeholders?
  • What “emergent design” principles and models were helpful in the process?
